first_imgPRAGUE – World pole vault champion Costas Filippidis set a season best 5.75 meters at the European Indoor Championships here, but finished fifth.His best was woefully short as the competition rose over him in an event won by the favorite, Renaud Lavillenie of France with 6.04 meters, followed closely by three other jumpers.Filippidis failed in his first attempt at 5.45 meters to go but then successfully made other heights up to 5.75 meters. He couldn’t make 5.8 meters.High-jumper Antonis Mastoras did better, jumping 2.28 meters on his first attempt to get into the final, along with Cypriot Kyriakos Ioannou, the 2009 silver medalist.Georgia Kokloni and Makis Stergioulis were disqualified from their heat at the 60 meters dash.TweetPinShare0 Shareslast_img read more
